Strelitzia flowers

I wasn't happy with the color of the flowers in the previous post so I thought I'd try again and capture the true color of these flowers. Commonly known as birds of paradise. (Don't forget to double click on pix).

    it seems
    like you have
    something blooming
    pretty much year round

we can't do that up here with our short growing season at the top of the world, but there always is something to look at -- my crabapple tree, for example:

in spring, blossoms; in summer, fruit (deer visit every day); in autumn, vivid yellow leaves; and in winter, small, dried red fruit, stark black branches & new white snow -- year-round birds eat the dried fruit through the winter -- so our garden 'lives' even then
