Ameria maritima

I wanted a plant that is colorful but extremely hardy because in summer the heat is scorching and other than petunias, not much can survive in a pot or hanging basket because there's no shelter from the afternoon sun.
This Ameria is ideal, and as you can see is flowering profusely.

  1. In Arizona we plant petunias in the fall, usually by October 15, and they take root during the winter and then bloom in the spring. Will the Ameria spread to fill the hanging pot?

  2. Yes it will. And unlike petunias the petals don't fall and make a mess everywhere.

    lexcen,

    it's lovely
    &
    very colorful

it looks less 'exotic' somehow than some of the ground dwellers in your garden... beautiful nonetheless

and i still am jealous of your green thumbs... fingers... toes...
