Bromeliads are considered house plants in Phoenix, Arizona, I don't think I've ever seen one growing in a garden here. I'm not good with house plants, I think the problem is the air conditioning just sucks all the humidity out of the air and in the heat of summer they run day and night.
btw, i have the black thumb of botantical death, and so greatly admire you successful gardening types, and your beautiful living works of art -- fantastic stuff -- keep 'em comin' lexcen
